In continuing with the walkthroughs of WindowBlinds 6, today I wanted to cover the default settings configuration. This can be found in the Settings tab, and we will go over the settings in the "Override default settings" section as you see in the screenshot below.

Override default settings |
WindowBlinds Settings

- If you want to have an icon for WindowBlinds displayed in your system tray, make sure you check the first box. Of course, if you don't want the icon you can always un-check it. Right-clicking the icon will bring allow you to configure or unload WindowBlinds.
- The second option allows you to enable/disable skinning of controls in applications which are not theme aware. If you have applications which do not like being skinned, and the buttons and other controls in those applications don't appear right, then you can check this to prevent those applications from being skinned.
- Some skins may contain sounds. These sounds might consist of a sound going off when you click the start button. You can turn on or off this feature here.
- WindowBlinds skins can also include wallpapers that are installed when the user applies the skin. If you want WindowBlinds to do this, then make sure this item is enabled.
Skinning Settings

-
The user icons that is displayed at the top of your start menu can also include its own icon with a WindowBlinds skin. This item will allow you to enable/disable WindowBlinds replacing this icon.
-
Ignoring the taskbar and start menu and using the selected one is a really cool feature. It basically allows you to replace the taskbar with one of your other installed WindowBlinds skins, while keeping everything else the same.
-
The next item allows you to choose a large or small taskbar, or just to let the skin decide the taskbar size.
Titlebar Settings

-
The first item here allows you to enable the ability for windows to minimize to the system tray instead of the minimizing to the taskbar.
-
The next item allows you set the action when you double click a titlebar. There are several actions you can set:
- Close window
- Minimize window
- Maximize window
- Rollup/Down window
- Set Always on top
- Show system menu
- Send to bottom
- Send to tray

-
The last item in this section allows you to set the action when right clicking a titlebar. The actions for this are the same as above.
After applying these changes you will need to click "apply changes" for many of them to take affect. We have covered overriding the default settings in WindowBlinds, and next we will cover some of the advanced settings available.
