My system is officially FUBAR (Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition) quicktime cannot auto-update without getting an error and shutting down and any window it is running from, uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't seem to work and every time I do, my taskbar turns transparent (may be taskbar shuffle, not sure though) and all in all I am stressed to high hell. I have had this computer from around half a decade, constantly updating and upgrading over the years as money allowed. I am at the end of my rope and am seriously considering the one option I never wanted to take; starting from complete scratch with a fresh install.

I am a very, VERY, anal person. I even have a series of word docs that have screen captures of my list of favorites so I can put them back should the computer rearrange them in 'order' never mind my screen capture for my desktop layout or my program list.

Before I do this, I want to try and find a couple of programs to help with the post-restart work. I suppose what I am looking for is a program that will list all my updates for the OS (following is a bonus)and all programs currently installed. Basically a program that scans my system and lists all updates and info on my service pack and security patches etc etc. If possible, can it be a program that auto DLs this stuff too?
