Iconpackager won't install on 64-bit Vista

I've tried running in XP SP2 compatibility, and as administrator, and all I ever get on installation is this:



Any help would be great.

I guess they're all too happy to take your money for a non-working product and then offer up sod all help.

Cheers guys. That'll teach me to use a torrent in future, rather than give you my cash out of a sense of decency.

i haven't a clue as to what your problem is but i've been running vista ultimate 64 since the day it was released and IP installs on my rig with no issues what so ever. you said you tried running it as an admin. did you mean you ran sdc as an admin? if not, try that.

 

on a side note, it's COLD here!

For someone who (according to his profile) hasn't bought anything, you sure seem to be rather impatient.

From your screenshot; I concur you are using a standalone-installer(-.exe)?

Download StardockCentral here (WWW Link) > install it > enter your IP-serial from the confirmation email you received from Stardock into SDC > download and install the newest version of IconPackager (3.20a.033) through StardockCentral.

That worked on my Vista64 system.

Is that under Demos in SDC? Thanks so far.

EDIT: sorry, forget it, I hadn't registered my serial with SDC so it wasn't showing.

BTW, if enough people pirate our stuff rather than pay for it then we just won't make IconPackager anymore.

Perhaps you should try using one of the alternatives...oh wait, no, no one else has bothered to make a Vista-enabled icon changing program a year after Vista has launched.  Why is that? Maybe it's because too many people pirate this stuff.

MNNNNGGH, I think you my have just committed an Oops or had yourself a Homer Simpson moment, DOH. You might want to take a moment and find out whom Frogboy is, especially being so new here. He's a person that can help just about anyone who may have a problem.

The suggestion by aufisch was 100% successful in getting my installation past this awful window. I had been waiting for the solution and the trouble ticket did not resolve it. I am glad I kept watching the posts since I knew the solution should appear.

To Stardock: Immediately solve this problem by linking to Stardock Central for the download rather than emailing a link that gives the stand alone installer since it is obviously the problem.

Hi,
I switched to vista64 recently and the IP will install but not work properly (causes my computer to crash, all my icons go "blanc" etc). I am a bit confused as I seem to get conflicting information about the compatibility of ip with vista 64.

I have searched quite a lot around and see that there are several other people around with similar questions - yet others (like aufisch above) claim that IP works fine with vista64. And stardock's customer service says it is not compatible. So which answer is right? And if there is a compatibility issue, when shall I expect it to be fixed?

I am not the "complaining" type, but can I remind any Stardock administrators who may read this that this is not a free service - we pay a subscription for these applications.

I am just a bit dissappointed about the lack of information on these issues. They have personally caused me a lot of time loss (I ended up formatting my computer 3 times, before I decided to totally uninstal ip). Plus it is now longer than a year that vista 64 bit has been around!

Any information on these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That post is a couple of months old

IP used to work fine (with the exception that icl-packages could not be loaded) on Vista64, but the latest betas (all 3.99+ betas) are not as yet compatible.

Make sure you download and install IP 3.2. This is the version that should work reasonably well with Vista64.
