XP LOGON STILL SHOWS .. I wonder why ...

Logon screen still shows even tho' I am not using it . .

 I wonder if there is a cure to my 'little' problem ...

When I first got OD I used Logons, as the computer was, at the time , shared ...

However , for the past coupla' years only I have been using it ... Therefore logons were not needed .. 
I believe I disabled them ( so long ago , I cannot remember now, or even how .. ) ... and ever since then the logon screen still appeared but with the Logon text gone ... and this is the way it has been ever since ...

~  Now . I can say it is definitely not an issue .. I am used to it by now ..however it would be nice to be able to stop this happening , sort of like .. After the XP bootscreen has gone , my desktop is there ...

So , How do I do this without upsetting the system ?

In Control Panel | User accounts | "Change the way users log on or off" have you set the welcome screen off and disabled "fast user switching"

Yep but then you actually, even for a non password protected account, have to click OK on the classic dialog to logon.

Hi Zubaz .. thanks for popping in ...

Right then ... I have turned the welcome screen off AND disabled the fast user switching ...and clicked 'apply options' ..

I will now try a restart ... see what happens .. brb!!

..Well that seemed to work ... I now get the classic windows dialogue onscreen when I click shutdown , and , as Cavan1 has just said , .. I would not have known this .. I just clicked OK on the dialogue box without entering a password after the restart and everything appears to be ok ... I hope that makes sense ...

OK ... next question ... ( ! ) How do I stop that appearing altogether ... ?

If it's not possible I can live with it ...

Ok .. 4.45 am gmt here I gotta hit the sack , guys... then I'll go to bed !!

Open the Start Menu, click run .
Type "control userpasswords2" in the run box (without the quotation marks)and press Enter.
Select the user you want to auto logon when Windows boots and uncheck User must enter a user name and password to use this computer. Click OK and type the current password for the user. Click OK when you’re done.
