Manual Installation

Okay I knew how to install theme packages and so forth. But I don't understand the manual method. I have sets for Stardock Icons, Microsoft Icons and so forth. Where do I place these Add-On packs and/or how do I install these? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
