Well, Netscape hasn't always been "an overbloated piece of crap". I remember back in the middle of the 90s, when I had my first internet experience: with a browser called "Mosaic". And then after a short time came Netscape which offered a lot more opportunities for webmasters. Mosaic was very limited, Netscape opened the door to a new era of webdesign.
Until MS came up with a useful IE, Netscape was the one and only out there. ... mais non, it just comes to my mind: There was a browser called "Lynx", text-based, couldn't show images. And there was a small community of Netscape-haters: Who needs this needless multimedia-crap, a text-only website is enough for everyone ...
