I was just reading some messages at another site I frequent and saw some complaints about how long it has been taking for the orders that some people placed from DeepDiscount.com to actually arrive at their homes. Well, I'm right there with those folks, as I'm waiting for a delivery from them as well. Something that was shipped out nearly 3 weeks ago, but still hasn't been received because it was shipped Media Mail.
I think I've complained on this topic before, and apologize if I'm duplicating my rants (hey, they say memory loss is a sure sign of old age, right. Don't they say something about, uh, memory loss. Hmm, what was I saying here!?
) but it bears repeating even if I did previously blog on the subject. MEDIA MAIL sucks.
Media Mail seems to be a case of hand an item to the postal service and then have them literally hand it from employee to employee within their system whenever those employees actually think to notice that there's a package behind them. The postal service treats media mail like something down around Ninth Class.... (with First Class being the best...)
I know that eventually I'll get my packages, but I really wish that media mail will just die die die as a service already. The difference in price -- unless you are shipping POUNDS of materials -- isn't enough to use media mail instead of first class in most cases, but businesses ship with media mail and the packages sit in the system until the postal service finally decides that the package sat long enough and then they finally kick it along to the next point in the delivery chain. I guess they figure you pay for worst class, you may as well get it. Bleh.
