So I've been looking around here and I've gotten a few dreams and it's a really cool idea. Just before finding these I found out about electric sheep and somebody made the comment that it would be cool to make it work with dreamscapes (bringing me here).
I'm actually surprised nobody else has brought it up here, just a thread in 2005 that sorta mentioned the software that makes the "electric sheep".
Well, if you don't know, electric sheep have a lot of cool stuff going on with it so go to the website at electricsheep.org. but it's basically a free screensaver that downloads and plays these 4 second videos of nice fractal visualizations that I don't even have the proper words to describe. Right now I 6GB of these videos and its all very dynamic, for lack of a better word.
If you can see where I'm going, there's the easy potential to set up deskscapes to play these files (especially with the .dll trigger capability that I haven't seen anybody use). The videos are stored individually so the best dream would be able to play everything in a directory and look at the filename to match up sheep that seamlessly transition to each other (at a dead end it would play another random video). I see a flaw in that but I want to at least get the idea out there.
The best I could do is make a (seamless) looping video of 15 or so sheep and setting that as the desktop. I can upload that somewhere if someone would like to see a sample, but the sheep are currently rendered at 640x480 so it can't go up on this site.
The videos are somewhat busy and I would prefer a simple desktop with little movement, but the ease (for someone else) of incorporating these 2 and the coolness factor just seems too good to pass up.
What do you guys think? I registered here with the hope that someone might have a bright idea to get this going.
