ObjectDock stops working

Okay, I've searched for postings on this topic and I haven't found any answers, so I figure I would try my luck here and see if you guys can help. I have been running ObjectDock for the past couple days and I love it, the only problem is that about 3 or 4 times a day it randomly stops working and closes, so then I have to go into my computer-->local disk-->programs-->stardock-->objectdock-->then open the OD program to get it up and working again. This is getting a bit tiring after having to go through these motions now at least 10-15 times. I'm running Windows Vista 32bit. Does anyone know why OD just randomly stops working?

Dunno about the crashing, but you could create a shortcut that is easier to get to at leat

Try clearing the cache.

Here are the instructions from the FAQ

Go to start > run and then copy this into the command line:

%userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock

It will open a file folder. Delete the ObjectDock one. Be sure to save your theme before doing all of this.

have had a similar problem to the original poster. Actually have cleared the cache too but it sadly hasnt made any difference.
Was getting over the crashing & thought that removing some docklets may help and the most likely candidates were the weather docklets.
removed the TWO weather docklets yesterday & have not had a single crash since then
It seems a possible theory that our XP environment eg Outlook or our security system is interferring with the weather docklets being able to call back to their website. And perhaps Object Dock says I give up & crashes. Just a wild guess. We did send some dumps so imagine Stardock would be onto it
Havent heard back yet tho
We are sorry to have to sacrifice our weather docklets tho & hope a new version will resolve

I've had the same problem with the paid version from the start. It disappears. Clear the cache and it seems fine for a few days, then crashes again.

What version are you on? Did you uninstall the trial before installing the Plus version?

We didnt uninstall the trial as far as we can remember.
Just checked & Object Dock and Object dock plus were in the windows program definitions ie control panel / add remove programs list.
So just to give it a go we delete the object dock from the windows program definitions and the object dock plus disappeared out of windows prog defn too
then we rebooted
then we installed the object dock plus via the stardock central
We notice its not in the windows program definitions now but its up & running and stardock central says its installed
Kinda makes sense tho as surely you only install from one place (is that correct)
anyway perhaps our problem got caused by this
so in confidence we had also added one weather dock which was what seemed to trigger the crashes

and will report back if it crashes - seeing a few people have a very similar problem to us we may be able to help by letting you know how we go with this attempt to sort it out on our pc

I'm running Windows Vista 32bit

Try clearing the cache.

On Vista the path has actually changed. The steps, however, are the same. So just follow Seabass6.7's Instructions, but using the path below.

%localappdata%\Stardock Just copy/paste that into cmd or the Vista start menu search bar.

I am having the same problems, it was working fine for a couple of weeks and just started recently. I have not added any docklets recently that correlate to the timing of the problem.
I am using Vista and nVidia video drivers.
I tried clearing the cache, but all it did was hose all my dock settings.

object dock has crashed again since we did the uninstall reinstall i mentioned above. but i have a feeling its connected to the weather docs. it seemed stable after the reinstall well for a day
i notice that the system cannot connect to the weather web site atm so I dont know if its linked to the problem - it indicate my theory might be correct - for this environment anyway - that the weather dock calls the web site & if it fails to connect OD crashes. now I am not 100% by sure anymeans - it just looks like that might be a reason for the crashes on this pc

I have removed the weather docklet from my docks on 3 machines and for the last 48 hrs no problems. So it would seem the problem lies there methinks

When I tried Seabass's instructions, I lost all my ObjectDock settings.

My problem is related to emailchecker 2.1. When the icon for new mail resets to the icon for no new mail, then ObjectDock stops working.

Anytime you're about to delete something as the cache and you're not sure whether or not you really need it, just back it up.

Backing up is standard nowadays, yet I see so many people not doing it. Simplest thing you could do...copy/paste...then restore if needed.

Further to my issue with emailchecker, I have isolated the problem behavior. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Objectdock stops working when the icon for new mail resets to the icon for no new mail. It only does this if Outlook 2007 is running. If Outlook is not running, then the docklet works fine and Objectdock remains stable. I have tried deleting the cache and it doesn't help.
