Object Dock Tabbed Dock Positioning Problem

Hey guys. I got Object Dock Plus on Vista Ultimate. Everytime I restart my system, the tabbed dock appears in front of every window. I do not have the dock set to stay on top. To get it to stay in the back, I have to make it always stay in front and then uncheck the option to make it go to the back. This also happens randomly while I am using the system.

Any solutions?

This is version 1.90 Plus of Object Dock.

Try clearing the cache. Here are the knoledge base directions.

Go to start > run and then copy this into the command line:

%userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock

It will open a file folder. Delete the ObjectDock one. Be sure to save your theme before doing all of this.

It doesn't solve my problem. The tabs still always appear on top of a fullscreen window after a system restart. I have to check and uncheck "Tabs always on top" to get them to go to the back again.

I run Object Dock Plus and don't have that problem. I don't use Vista but not sure that should matter. Where is your tab dock located on your screen? Again I don't it should matter.

Open up your Tabbed Dock Properties and go to Positioning, I have show dock as drawer marked. I do not have Tab always on top marked but I do have Don't show in tray or taskbar marked.

Give that a try and post back. Like I said I don't know why this would be different between XP and Vista.

Did not work. Here is the weird thing, if after system restart I go to the tabbed dock and click on a different tab than the one it's currently on, and then open a program and then maximize it, the tabbed docks stay in the back. Otherwise they dont and I have to check and uncheck.

I too have strange z-ordering on Vista x64.

There are times when I'll activate the dock (its setting is hide in the background when not in use) over a full screen window then attempt to click off of it only to see that it stays there. This has only occured on tabbed docks and seems to be random.

Anyway, all I have to do is restart OD+. Seems there's some kind of z-ordering issue that may be restricted to Vista only.

I also have the problem that KiloKrash described except on x86 Vista Ultimate.

Well, I uninstalled Objetdock and then reinstalled the program after running CCleaner. I ran the installer as administrator by right clicking and selecting it. The issue seems to be resolved for now.

Glad to see you were able to get ObjectDock working correctly. Running some of Stardock programs on Vista does seem to be at times and adventure.

Right, because there were NEVER any problems/error/bugs running the software on XP...right?

Update:

The problem is still not resolved. If I change any desktop settings, Objectdock continues to always stay on top even when this option is not selected. I have tried clearing the cache, reinstalling Objectdock, denying all modifying/writing permissions on the settings.ini. If I change my default sound output and then restart, Objectdock again always stays on top even when the option was not checked.

metri it look like you are going to have to email support@stardock.com with this one. Be sure to link them to this post so they can see the steps you have taken. I don't think anyone will get back to you until Monday because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Hope you get this sorted out.

I don't know if this will help any or if you've already done this, but I had this same problem to an extent when I first installed OD plus and realized I had some of the little arrows still active on the mouseover section and had to disable them all first before the stay on top would stay off the top lol. In the Hotspots I had the bottom one still checked for some reason so no matter what I set the stay on top to it wouldn't keep the setting. Once I removed that Hotspot setting it went away... go figure, probably a bug but I didn't think much of it at the time. Hope it helps and sorry if not, hope you get it fixed as I've been using OD plus for over a year now and don't know how I lived without it all them years

Here is another weird thing. The tabbed dock tabs stay in the back if I reload my theme. They will stay in the back until my laptop goes to battery mode. Then, the tabs start appearing in the front again and I have to reload the theme again.


I do not have any hotspots set.

Hi!


I've got the following problem and I don't know how to solve it or if it's possible to solve it.

What I want: I want my docklets to autohide, but they should only appear, if there's no maximized window. If I move the mouse to docklet on the desktop it should appear. With maximized Firefox/Explorer (or any other application) it should NOT appear.
I want it to behave just like the taskbar (Windows XP) when "autohide" is set and "always keep on top" is disabled.


What do I have to do?

The settings Keep on top, hiding off-screen for max applications dosen't work for you? I think that is a straight description of that function under Positionion in your settings menu.

I believe:

it just hides off screen when theres a maximized application(and shows when I'm moving the mouse over it) = hiding off-screen for max applications

hide means hide until you indicate you need to see it, as in mousing over it


and when there's none then its permanently visible. = Keep on top
