I was just messing around on my laptop, and i was prepping for a reinstall. my audio drivers were corrupted, and i just figured that i needed a project, and i decided to create what i call...
The Ultimate Reinstall Package!!!
actually, its not so special, i just basically created a self extracting archive that would not only extract all of my software installers, but also run them, allowing me to do a mass reinstall, saving me from a LOT of mouse clicks. also, it extracts my pictures, my music, and my videos to the folders that i designate. sure, it takes longer, but i can do an XP reinstall, and start the extraction before i go to work, and when i get home, all but 3 programs are installed, my drivers are done, my documents are restored, and im all set.
so i was wondering, does anyone else make something like that? i dont like imaging drives, so please dont rip into me for this, i just like doing it this way, because it just seem cooler to me. by the way, i install about 30 programs, copy 23 gigs of music, 4 gigs of pictures, 19 gigs of video, and maybe another 3 gigs of random documents. the installer is only about 65 gigs, and i just run it off my 80 gig external drive.
so, what does your general reinstall entail, and do you do anything special?
(a DVD with a pile of bloatware isnt special)
