Quicken 2008 Disables Slideout

I've just installed Quicken Home and Business 2008 (Canadian version). While quicken is running my Objectdock docks won't reappear when I put the mouse at the side of the screen. Tabbed docs still work but the mouse-over doesn't display the icon label. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same problem. Quicken seems to handle it's display out of the ordinary which perhaps is why OD has problems with it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. It took me a while to recognize that it was Quicken causing the problems.

I too am having the same problem. Quicken 2008 and OD+ do not work well together.

Hehe ADMIN WARZ!!

I went to find a tester and had to plug in a ton of info. If I can't find some 30 day trial I will bite the bullet in the morning.

For the record I don't want torrents or what not.

I would totally unban myself so neh.

Ok so I loaded it on a XP machine and found that there was some trouble. However when I made a shortcut of the launcher and placed it on the dock rather than the normaly created short cut I had no issues.

This is with the setting of Keep on top, hiding offscreen when not in use, and using Hide off-screen when not in use.

Anyone have other settings I can try to replicate this? Vista or some other config of Object Dock I haven't tried?

I still have the issue, regardless of how I create the icon on the dock. ObjectDock is completely unresponsive until I exit Quicken, then it seems to return to normal for me. I tried to drag the Quicken shortcut from the start menu group to ObjectDock, use the "Add Shortcut" option from ObjectDock itself and then browsed to the "qw.exe" file, and I also created a new Quicken shortcut on the desktop from Windows Explorer, and then drug it down to ObjectDock, but to no avail.

Sorry for the lack of information...

I am using a new installation of Windows XP SP2 with updated drivers and patches. I am just in the process of re-installing all of my programs, so I have a fairly vanilla system at the moment. As far as security applications go, I am using Windows Defender and the stock Windows XP firewall. I only have Microsoft Office 2007, Quicken 2008, and ObjectDock Plus installed. Everything works fine with ObjectDock Plus except Quicken.

I have also tried disabling the options on the troubleshooting section of the ObjectDock preferences, but that didn't work either.

I'm sure it's a Quicken issue, as it seems to have a lot of non-standard UI conventions, but it would be nice if a work-around could be found...

I am still unable to replicate this. Can you go into your directory and send us the ObjectDock.zip file located there? Send it in a ticket to support@stardock.com referencing this forum link please. I will forward it to the developers for more info.

My docks work somewhat in Quicken. They pop up and I can click on an icon to get to another program. However the zoom affect doesn't work at all.

Furthermore, if I open up IE7 in addition to Quicken I completely lose the docks. Can't open them in either Quicken or IE7. Might not be just IE7 that does this.

I run both of these full screen on a 1680x1050 DFP monitor.

Just tried a few ore things. Any other full screen app that is running along with Quicken will produce the same results as IE7. If I unmaximize Quicken all by itself I completely lose the bottom dock. That is it doesn't pop up. My tabbed dock on top does appear.

I am running Vista x32 with Aero on.

FYI...

Quicken Cash Manager 2008 (Cdn version) botches up a few items for me.

My Dock is totally unresponsive while QCM2K8 is running. Also my StrokeIt (a gesturing program) is also rendered useless.

I don't expect Stardock to resolve this issue, but they should probably make some kind of contact with the folks at Intuit to see if the problem could be resolved.

This is definately an issue with Quicken - and I'll be glad to switch to something else if I can find a replacement.

System is a Windows XP SP2 (all updates to date), 3gig memory, nVidia 7600GT PCI video card, OD Free, Quicken Cash Manager 2008.

As a test, I also installed the freeware program RocketDock from Punk Software to give it a try. It has the exact same issue! Once Quicken is running, either full-screen or in a window, the dock becomes unresponsive until I exit from Quicken.

The file "ObjectDock.zip" that you requested does not exist anywhere on my system. I've done a full search, and it isn't there...

I've been trying out a few things, and I found out that if I exit ObjectDock Plus before starting Quicken, and then start ObjectDock back up after Quicken is up and running, everything works fine. The dock responds, and I can launch other programs just fine. If I then exit Quicken (leaving ObjectDock running) and then start it back up, either by using the ObjectDock icon or the start menu shortcut, the problem returns, and ObjectDock becomes unresponsive again until I exit Quicken.

This issue is 100% repeatable for me.

Good catch. Works the same way for me too.

So who is the culprit, OD+ or Quicken?

Glad (?) to know I'm not the only one suffering from this annoyance with Quicken Cash Manager 2008 (Cdn version) and OD v. 1.9. Just found out that QCM 2008 also disables RightClick!

I feel that the issue is with Quicken. It does something that OD doesn't like. Still, I think the developers of OD are more likely to respond to this issue than those at Intuit. They're just better that way.

Same zoomer dock issue here.

CursorXP gives Q2008 fits as well. Or is it the other way around?

Just wondering... was there ever a fix for this issue?

I'm now running Vista Home Ultimate with an ATI video card and Quicken still freezes OD in it's tracks. Currently running OD+, but don't have the version number handy at the moment.

Intuit won't acknowledge that there are any issues at all. I know that they won't be seeing any more of my money.

I am having the same problem and I am running Windows XP SP3.  This is not really an Intuit problem, since Quicken only affects ObjectDock and no other program on my PC.  So if you are waiting for Intuit to deal with this, you are barking up the wrong tree.  Stardock has to come up with a solution and I hope they do soon.

SFAcadia, I think it is a Intuit/Quicken problem.  Quicken has a known issue of screen flicker or marginal/constant screen repaint issues.  Some tracked it back to certain mouse drivers, etc.  But it's clear to me that Quicken has implemented non-standard graphics handling to get the graphics/presentation they want. 

I'll place my money on Quicken being the culprit since I'm currently experience the screen flicker/repaint issue.  Many times the only way I can get  Quicken to stop repainting the screen is to minimize EVERY other window.
