I could go Direct PC and that's it. I live in the country and wouldn't have it any other way.
6-7 miles from city limit
2+ mi down gravel county round
1/2 mi driveway
have various hilly areas surrounding = dead zones = no cell signal
cost me way more than enough just to bring in 1/2 mile of phone lines.
only option for highspeed is satellite - not sure it's worth it & I like my trees. Still looking into it though.... most I've checked with want you to buy the equipment at around $800-$1,000 for upload/download via satellite - less for upload via phone.
OK, not to be offensive, but Dial-up?.... come on guys, it's almost 2008. I don't understand why people are surprised with corrupt packets or interrupted downloads on dial-up.
Most of us using dialup aren't surprised by corrupted packets or interruptions.
Most interruptions are detailed as such in messages.
Most corrupted packets are identifiable with similar messages - especially for .zip - go to extract - get the 'appears to be corrupted' message.
Not the same as the issue above - there have been similar posts concerning hanging on installation and moving of the file - not everybody has said they're on dialup.
