A fix is going up tomorrow for this. Thanks for your patience.
And, thanks for your rapid response. I'm experienced working with computer systems for a number of years in systems - not an expert in Windows XP, but I learn. With regard to my numerous posts it was to convey to those who reponded I had 2 problems first, a sound packager issue which has been identified and will be corrected in the update(thanks

); and second a control panel sounds and device sound theme configuraton issue. I'm thinking this second issue is something has happened to a Windows XP program and this probably happened due to possibly other software not being nice to XP. I have a typical configuration AC '97 (onboard) using the AC97 Codec ALC658 Audio Driver Version 5.10.0.6220 with DirectX 9.0c. Soooo up to date there and functioning.
Using the control panel in XP and selecting Sound and Devices and manually selecting event sounds does work temporarily it's just when I do a save as to save my manual changes in a new theme file that all my manual sound changes I MADE are changed to no sound for explorer and internet events and some others as well. This second problem I am thinking is a result of very possibly more than one software program malfunctioning. Sooo, since correcting this problem is not a major issue to me, and the only certain correction for it is do a complete XP reinstall, it just ain't gonna happen. Not for a problem this small. Besides, when SoundPackager applies a theme it does work and I will have (I hope) fully functioning sounds through SoundPackager again. I may eventually be able to track a solution that will allow my manual sound corrections to be saved as a fully working theme file agian. Based on prior experience, I will have to try unloading lots of software, stop it from restarting and do a reboot. Then try making manual sound changes. This method will only work if my XP program files that manage sounds and devices haven't been corrupted.
SOUNDS like a fun future project and a great way to learn more. Later.
