Late last month the popular job-search website Monster.com was hit by a massive
security breach in which personal data for over 1 million customers was
reportedly stolen. The data was mostly e-mail addresses and home addresses
from the resumes posted on the site. The information was initially stolen
using accounts that were stolen from human resource personnel and job
recruiters.
Well now it's being reported that a federal job site, USAJobs.gov, which is
run by Monster Technology was also affected by the security breach. Over
146,000 users of that site also had their personal information stolen which has
been used by "phishers" to try and get even more detailed personal data from
these users.
Both sites are warning users that they don't solicit personal information by
e-mail, and that downloading software or tools is not required by them.
