What else should i do

Now i dont want to look like an idiot but about a month ago i bought all the parts for my new computer so that i could do my 3d animation, web design and gaming with ease. 3d animation and web design aspects of it are going perfectly but the gaming part is giving me some problems i would just like to know if i am asking too much of computers.I am very computer savvy but still would like to have some input from others who also know alot. When i run things like everquest 2 on uber crazy settings and say rainbow six vegas everything runs fine but i notice that there are still alot of places where i get lag like when im in direct sunlight or where alot of the maps are showing. I would just like to know what else i should purchase to be running completely seamless.

There are still unanswered questions. What operating system? I have heard of Vista lagging with 2GB RAM; my sources report 4GB as being more realistic. Is it online gaming and possibly the Internet connection lagging?

I checked further, and Rainbow Six Vegas only supports XP, so I am going to assume that is what you're running. It lists a minimum RAM requirement of 1GB. From what you've posted here and the system requirements for Rainbow Six Vegas (the one game you mention), I would look first at the Internet connection. Run several speed tests at various times of day. Test both download and upload speeds (my personal favorite is www.speedtest.net). I would definitely take a look at the RAM; while you may have ample RAM, it is possible you're running some other processes that are eating up the remaining RAM and causing the lags. Lastly, I would look at possible Direct X issues. But check out the other stuff first.

If you dont have one of those, you wont be playing R6 Vegas Or Splinter Cell: DA

as with any games the leaner the system is the smoother...excess running services eat up resources in turn causing "lag" which is actually the PC stuttering to keep up with demands...typically i run with 17 running processes when gaming. every thing i can gets turned off..Realistically i set up a new user on the pc and striped it of any and all extra services, and use it or gaming only....

tuning up your system.(tweaking the OS, including turning off unnecessary services)
ample resources.(plenty of ram etc,)
Tweaking your net connection. ( using programs to adjust your Internet connection to maximize up and download speeds)

Make sure drivers are as up to date as possible. (remember tho..occasionally a new released driver may be actually worse than an older one, if the new one gives you problems reinstall the older one .)
