Stardock's various websites have crossover/connection between their respective forums so sometimes, for example a politically-based thread may appear from Joe User on the Wincustomize forums, etc. The best way to ignore those is to not click on them.
Generally speaking, selective miopia is a greater negative than 'enduring' the occasional undesired thread/comment.
It's akin to a skinner only wanting to see/have 'good' comments on their work. It's unnaturally biased and misrepresentational.
What we DO handle, however is the particularly vindictive/personal attack in any form of comment. If someone habitually comments thus his access is 'modified', either to lose posting privileges or any form of access to the site/s at all.
That determination, however is down to the site Admins/moderators, not to the individual.
Open public forums need to be just that. Censoring through revision/filter ultimately throws out the baby with the bath water as far as community interaction goes....
