WindowBlinds & Acts of God

Slight delay

As some of you may have heard, there's been massive flooding in the UK.  This is affecting two of our developers which is likely to result in a slight delay in the WindowBlinds 6 beta on Object Desktop. The new projected date is next week for both SkinStudio 6 and WindowBlinds 6 betas.  The picture on the right was taken by a WindowBlinds developer.

The betas of WindowBlinds 6 and SkinStudio 6 will be available exclusively to users who have Object Desktop.

In the meantime, here's a screenshot of WindowBlinds 6 Alpha running on Windows XP (note the blur effects).

Life is full of interruptions and delays, but we usually manage to survive.

Hope that the developers are safe and were able to move to higher ground.

Have been through a few floods, clean up is the worst part.

Sorry for adding this, received an email today to renew my OD subscription for another year with a discount. Christmas came early this year. Thank you.

heh! from the thumbnail in the article it looked like the house was floating on the water like a boat.

I saw it on the newspapers here they talk about the worst massive flooding on UK look like "mousson" in India
I really hope they will be good and all their family too.

Holy **** skinfans...looks like a real t**d floater there...surfs up for the crew.

Yes,I would say fearing for your life would override getting beta's to work.

At least that photo was taken ABOVE the water.

Jafo never did learn to swim...but he's in Orstrayleeya with 20% less water catchment than the same time last year...so little chance really of needing to...

Went through the Brisbane floods of 71 and saw the waters rising all around us, but fortunately we were not inundated ourselves. There was widespread property damage and thousands upon thousands of people displaced from their homes, so hopefully you guys suffer nil property damage like we did.

Jafo never did learn to swim..


Um, er...we live on a huge island, and uh, if anybody eventually finds the plug and decides to pull it, you might wanna learn how to real fast....

...and at the rate Rio Tinto's bin digging, that may be sooner rather than later.

I was in the UK for work last week. Massive rain on our way back from Beverley to Stansted airport. No fun.

I dread to think how much more the Themse stink now...
I lived in the Docklands right outside one of the docks. ...hmm... gotto contact my old housemates which still lives there.

Indeed sorry to see it affecting you guys.

We've been lucky so far and not been hit, but lots of friends around the UK have.

Thousands of people (into 10's I believe) have had major damage and are now living in various emergency areas.

Apparently it's going to be weeks before some folk get their water turned back on,so until then it's being distributed from bowsers on the street.  
I'm at sea level right on the South Coast here so I suppose I have all of this to look forward to when the sea levels rise several metres in the years to come.
Time to head for the high ground ......

I've lived at or near sea level most of my life and seen my share of flooding, never anything sever (few feet here and there). Its a fearful thing to see and know what could happen. Don't have to worry much with that being 2500' above it now. Best of luck to all of you over there.

I hope all those caught in the floods make it through okay...a lot of hopes and prayers are with you.

Ref WB6...Looks really nice, but...

You know, one would think Stardock would fix the logoff/shutdown buttons and make them line-up correctly, especially if they're displaying their premier product in a screenshot. I'm a detailed oriented person and that glitch in the skin would bug the sh@t out me. I really hope they fix that for both XP and Vista users.

On a sidenote, I cannot get windowblinds 5 enhanced to work in Vista at the moment. The program continually requires a reboot. ...And no, I wasn't running antivirus or a registry guard program during the install. Anyway...nothing beats pure Aero imo.

I was using vista just for some eyecandy/curiosity but it didn't play well with my notebook even with my bios/drivers vista ready thing.

We here in Japan too, went through some flood, taifuns and earthquakes lately. Looks like Earth is going to revenge some bad habits we did sometime.
Anyway, hope you all are safe and well.

By the way, does someone know how the skin from Brad's screen shot is called or where it can be downloaded? Or is it not released yet?

Even worse, the cricket was cancelled due to a little dampness in the outfield...

There are some real issues with WB5.5x at the moment. Your problem I have come across and for me it was down the to WBVista service not being set to Automatic start for some reason. Go into services.msc as Administrator to turn it on.

My problem with WB (that couldn't be fixed) was when ever using a AA skin, DWM would not start. All settings were correct, no error messages, just the skins became opaque. Going into services and manually starting DWM worked every time. Damn annoying.
