Last Tuesday there was a post about the
Internet Radio Day of Silence. This was a day when many US based internet radio stations would not play anything to bring attention to the unfair royalty fees that internet radio was going to be forced to pay. I would count it as a success when Congress received 350,000 calls to change the legislation. Now we have to wait and see.
One of the vocal proponents (and one of my favorite stations) of internet radio is Pandora. I was actually introduced to them by
RomanDA's
Pandora widget. They provide a service where you pick a song or artist and they play music that is similar. You can then rate the music they play and the system will tune itself to you. You can even
share your playlist of stations. It's worth a look if you want to enjoy music and maybe want to hear new stuff.
They are running a contest now to design a poster that will be given away to donors who support Pandora's charity work.
So if you have the desire to do some good, take a look and see what's what.
Pandora Poster Contest
Calling all artists, designers, and art lovers! I'm very pleased to announce the first-ever Pandora Poster Contest.
At Pandora, we treasure great design and artwork. It's an important
piece of what we do every day, in our ongoing effort to provide you
with the best music experience, bar none. Now we want to include some
of your talent and vision. We are very excited to see what our
listeners come up with. The grand prize is a $500 gift certificate to
the indie music store of your choice, plus some great publicity on our
blog.
In addition to sharing your creative imagination, you will be
helping us to support youth music education around the world. The
limited edition poster will given away as a thank-you for donors to our
Global Giving philanthropy projects.
The goal is simple: create a poster about Pandora. The rest is up to
your imagination. Feel free to explore themes of music, technology,
philanthropy, music education, or whatever moves your muse. One thing
we ask is that you don't redesign our logo.
Special thanks to our friends at Votigo, who have donated
significant time and energy to make this contest a reality and to help
support this philanthropic project.
Enter a poster or vote now!
