(continued from part 2)
Any of you disco freaks who were able to pull your heads up for a breath of fresh air and hear a little country music back there in the eighties will remember my next big hit, " The Way We Wuz ". Barbara Streisand's people bought it off of us and a movie with her and Robert Redford followed, with the song being the themesong. They did the tune real justice, but I still like the way we did it better. Its nearly the same, (do do...do d'da do do do dodoooooooo), only mine had the 'down home feel' that was popular in Nashville back then. With that in mind, read my original lyrics, and then think about why they made the changes. I think you will see why I like my version best.
"The Way We Wuz"
The way we wuz...oh those memories light my foggy brain
Misty water-soaked magazines...left on benches at the zoo
Kodak snapshots...of smiles from strangers in an aviary
I remember now ...she had on the same outfit as you
Could it be that it was all a coincidence...that we were both unemployed?
I guess you had to take that chance...I hope you really enjoyed
Th tall giraffes...hey, gal..we had our laffs
The way we wuz it was beautiful...but..you know
There's no difference in raindrops...like there is in snow
Guess it's the laffter... I know we wont forget
Whenever...oh, forget it
The wAaAaAaAaAaAay...the way we wuz

You know , it's funny but just writin' out those lyrics makes me think back about the one I wrote 'em for. Aint that funny how the night moves.
