Wallpaper handling

How should this be done?

One of the things I'd like to see happen on WinCustomize is better support for multiple wallpaper resolutions.

For instance, I'd like to be able to select 1280x1024 from a combo box, press a button and have just that sized wallpaper.

But how would you imagine the uploading of this kind of thing working so that it's not a pain in the butt for artists?

A checkbox in the upload page that lists the resolutions (and able to check multiple sizes), and then a dropbox in the categories that will sort them according to the resolution filter selected?

It is *really* annoying that when you go to download a nice wallpaper that you find the highest resolution in the zip is 1024x768. So many people have larger monitors and higher resolutions, it would just be really helpful to have the resolutions listed in the description, or to be able to sort wallpapers by resolution so you're not stuck with something that looks crappy on hi-res systems.

Multiple files per upload, one zip per res size with drop down to select res for each file. This would also require multiple download buttons for those not searching by res.
Not sure how much work this would be for the coders but it would save us having to upload each res separately. ( although if it was timed right and uploaded walls for all res, someone could own page one. )

InterfaceLIFT
and Customize.org both have a nice setup to download walls.

The artist uploads their highest resolution standand and/or widescreen walls and the site resizes them for smaller resolutions.

I don't really know how it works, but it would seem like a lot of work for the site to me, but it's a great system for knowing what sizes are available and downloading the size you need.

That is why IMO, listing included res should be required in order to upload.
I have seen some, even recently that are only 800x600.

Agreed, and without stating the res would automatically deny the upload or something. That is to say it might not stop authors from putting any random crap in there just to have it upload in the first place. *sigh*

ditto bossman! a lot of us render out our walls and uploading one file, would save a lot of time with image resizing in ps.

wallpapers zipped by sizes (if there are more than one "colors" version too)



Download:

the same the customer can choose witch res he want to download
