LogonStudio Vista 1.0 released

Change your Windows Vista logon screens

Stardock has released LogonStudio Vista v1.0.  LogonStudio is a popular freeware program for creating and changing the Windows logon screen.  LogonStudio Vista adds is a new program that enables users of Windows Vista to change their Windows logon screens.

Users can apply logon screens that come with the program, create their own, or download hundreds of additional logon screens created by others at WinCustomize.com.

LogonStudio can be downloaded at http://www.logonstudio.com. It is also part of Stardock's popular desktop enhancement suite, Object Desktop.

This looks alot nicer than the beta. The Load dialog needs some tweaking though.

It should be able to install over the existing beta, and any existing logons should remain available in the new version.

The Load dialog needs some tweaking though.

Oh? Note that you can just drag and drop packages (and pictures) onto LogonStudio Vista rather than going through the load dialog. You can also drag thumbnails from the program onto the desktop or an Explorer window to create a package.

There is a problem with stardock central and this release...

I checked mine, said I was already running 1.00.002, released June 5, 2007, today...yet I had not updated my beta to the new version.

Checking the interface, I could see it didn't match the new screenshots.

I downloaded the version from the main site link above. It installed v1.00 which had the new interface.

Then Stardock Central advises me to update to v1.00.002, which for the hell of it, I did. Now, I am running v1.00.002 (according to Stardock Central), dated today, WITH the new interface...yet the application itself reports it as v1.00.

Ahem.

Paging versioning mixup resolution squad?

PS The program, though seemingly nothing more than a backdrop changer for Vista login right now, works very well. I hope to see it allow more customization (like the XP version, and other similar applications) in the future.

Stardock Central has a revision number at the end there that it uses to track all updates. They're all the same EXE's now.

I wonder if that revision number didn't get ticked up on the server side happily...

I usually just click on the file, but because the TweakVista skin doesnt have the shellstlye in it, the Load dialog looks funky. It's always nice to have a polished product.

Ah, right, I see what you mean - it's not using the new Vista-style Load file dialog. This is not because we've not got a shellstyle, but because the .NET class for common dialogs passes in a hook procedure, and so to guarantee compatibility Vista drops back to the previous version. It should be possible to make it use the new ones with some manual coding, though. Thanks for the idea.

Is there anyway to have it randomize which logon screen is displayed each time the computer is locked, logged on to, or whatever?

it's not using the new Vista-style Load file dialog.


For me it is. Here's a screenshot of what I mean. Notice a lot of controls are missing. It's just a big white mass.
