Another few films I could mention include Live Free or Die Hard. Ho-hum. Been there, done that how many times already?
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End maybe fun, but then again I waited for DVD on the first two, why break that habit?
The Simpson's movie. Um, why?
I think that covers most of the biggies that are coming, but it definitely seems to be a big summer for movies this year. One of the biggest I recall.
Will the box office break through and rack up the $$$? Maybe. It does seem to be a year that could find people staying closer to home, rather than travelling (thanks to gasoline prices that keep climbing). If gas prices don't climb too high and eat up all disposable income, then higher prices could help keep people more local, in theatres for movies rather than doing road trips.
It also seems to be a time when prices haven't risen too much for movie tickets and income levels might have caught back up some with the prices we pay for seeing films out.
In some ways perhaps it comes together somewhat as 'the perfect storm' for theatres and the movie industry to have a big year. Perhaps the biggest on record for them. The question is will people buy into any of these products, or will people sit on their hands and stay at home waiting for the DVD versions of any of the above?
