This message will not be coming from WB.

I would check what you have running on startup.

I knew the message wasn't coming directly from WB, perhaps I should have phrased it better. Sorry.

As far as startup programs, this is what is listed in system configuration > startup: Windows Defender, AVG, Quicktime, iTunes, HD Audio Control Panel, Java, Right Click, Stardock Component Tray, Stardock ObjectDock and Microsoft Office.

As far as clicking "more information" on the message box, it's never there long enough to do that. about 1 second. I was lucky enough to capture it at boot-up with "print Screen".

If this is not in any way related to WB, maybe I should have posted over at Neowin. Sorry. Maybe I'll give that a shot. Thanks anyway, folks.

At the moment, RightClick is using the WB skin. I'll try another skin and see what happens.

So now that we have (potentially) identified what's going on . . you can set RC to use the WB and just accept the error?

No yeah that is definitely RightClick... it'll do a refresh when the WindowBlinds skin changes but it shouldn't do it if the skin hasn't changed! Anything that you're doing with WB at all that might make RightClick think that the skin has changed? Quite odd!

I do actually have a thought though... now keep in mind we're still updating RightClick to support Vista fully the current release wasn't designed "for Vista" persay. I think a problem that might be coming in to play is that UAC was on during install. What happens in Vista is that program-files folders are locked down except for during installs. Now, to do the WindowBlinds stuff, RightClick has to generate a converted WB skin, which it puts in the R.C. folder. Also, if it detects an old-version of a converted skin or that the skin has changed, it will delete the old version and write it over with the new one. Well unfortunatly, we're liking seeing the effect of Vista there, i think RC is failing at deleting the files silently and so every time, it thinks it needs to update the skin.

Good news though, we're looking at updating RightClick this summer to have better Vista compatibility Otherwise, I'd recommend trying going to your RightClick folder, and if you know how, go to the security settings for the folder and replace owner/permissions on the folder and all of its sub-contents with your own user / the administrator. Worth a shot!

Too much in start up. nothing to do with issue, just a thought
