User Mode

Can't get it to saty enabled

I tried searching for a resolution and I couldn't find one. I am trying to get the usermode to stay enable on a computer but after I log out or restart it is not enabled anymore. Is there a way to enable it so that it will stay on after a reboot. I am also using version 1 of DesktopX.

Desktop X starts up, but it will not start up in user mode. The mode where they can't use the right click only the objects on the desktopx theme.

It's been too long since I used version 1 - I don't remember it having a user mode as it does now.

It has the ability to set the user mode on a right click. When I do that it works until I log out or restart.

Sorry, DX1.0 came out in 2000. I can't remember that far back.

I just got the 1.3 update. It still hasn't fixed it. Where can I clear the cache from DX?

I will give this a shot. I can't figure this out for the life of me. Anyone know if you can remove the programs section from the right click menu?

The cache folders were not there. I had view hidden files selected to.

Pardon me for jumping in,

I just got the 1.3 update

but, the current version of DesktopX is 3.2 so I'm not sure what you mean by this. Also,

with the current version of DesktopX(and since at least version 2) there is a hidden DesktopX sub-folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\"Your_User_Name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock. If you find this referenced DesktopX sub-folder just delete it to clear the cache. I hope that helps.

Ok. I'm assuming you have DesktopX 3.2 and are running Windows XP SP2. Please try this if you go to Configure DesktopX Builder (since you say it is switching to DX Builder) click on the Preferences tab. Just below the language drop-down (mine is English) you will see a line saying "Make DesktopX Builder the default program for loading .dxpacks and .desktops". Make sure that isn't checked if you want it starting up in client mode. If you want it to start in Builder mode then make sure that line is checked. In either case you can switch modes at any time by right clicking the system tray icon and selecting the desired mode. I think this will fix your problem if I understand you correctly.

I'm thinking you're just not looking in the correct "Your_User_Name" subdirectory because DesktopX does create this when you first load it. Good luck.

I have version 1.3 as I stated above. I was not the purchasing person for desktop X at my job so we never purchased a newer version. That is where I am having trouble. We have it installed on some Windows 2000 computers and user mode stays. I am trying to install it on an XP computer and now user mode will not stay enabled.

I sent in a ticket with them about 2 days ago and haven't heard anything from them. So I decided to post in the forums.

I stepped away from it yesterday and did something else. I just tried it this morning and now it is working. I don't why or how all I know is I am happy. Thanks for all the ideas guys/gals.
