Windowblinds spoilt my Vista experience!

I've been an objectDesktop subscriber for a few years now and I just up(?)graded to Vista business. The revamped windows and aero are all very nice but frankly it is all old hat to me- thanks to stardock Ive been running these kind of things for years now!

I'm kind of surprised though at how so far windowblinds on vista does not seem to offer anything new at all. I dont know - I just expected vista specific skins and something special... And maybe some more vista-specific apps.

Oh well, early days yet!

WB 5.5 is intended to run the existing WB skins on Vista.  We will be adding new blur etc features in the future.

Remember that the OS has just recently been released. As Neil said, their first step was to make sure WB runs well on Vista while retaining backwards compatibility with older skins.
We didn't have all the features possible in XP availible when XP was released. It's been built over the last few years.

And they have stated before that there are Vista specific apps coming out soon. Just hand tight.

Just gimme SkinStudio for Vista and we'll see what'll skin...

Kin - like Neil mentioned, WindowBlinds 5.5's job is to run on Windows Vista.  It can't automatically make the thousands of existing skins suddenly take full advantage of the new elements in Windows Vista.

New, Vista specific features will come in future versions but for now, the focus has to be to allow people who are migrating to Windows Vista be able to run their existing skins.

As for Vista specific apps -- check out DeskScapes (http://dream.wincustomize.com).

Exactly... and even then, who wants a product that takes 50% CPU utilization to make your background animated. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE THE CAPABILITY, but not if I have to deal with 40-50% or sometimes even higher CPU utilization. Remember folks that some people have laptops and while my laptop can run these features all day long, the battery cannot. So this type of utilization is killing us with battery power. Get with Microsoft and lessen the utilization through better coding. Hell, I can take an animated gif and make it my background in XP and get the same results as DeskScapes does "including" the crap high CPU utilization. What else is new... come on, let's have it.

The high cpu usage of video on the desktop is a natural side effect of decoding HD resolution video. 

Video content will always use lots of cpu.  Dynamic content is vastly more cpu efficient.
