Vista 64 bit

i've noticed that windowsblinds doesn't run under vista 64 bit. why is this? it keeps telling me i have to reboot, but that doesn't work. here is the exact message

this machine must be rebooted after installing this version of WB5.

if you have rebooted and still get this message, you may need to disable any registry protection / anti spyware apps you have and reinstall windowsblinds as they may be incorrectly preventing the install.

Are downloading the standalone or via SDC?

The current beta does not support Vista 64 bit as explained in the history (and readme I think)

As usual with our betas, we produce the 32 bit version first and once we are happy we work on the 64 bit version.

Hopefully the next update of WB should include 64 bit Vista support.

ah bummer, ok then, i'll keep a lookout, i didn't even think to look in the readme. i've never used a 64bit machine b4, so i'm a little new with all that.

Unfortunately, you are not alone regarding "64-bit". It seems many make the same mistake by confusing 64-bit CPU (processors) with 64-bit Operating Systems. Briefly, you can run any Operating System (32-bit or 64-bit) with a 64-bit CPU. But 64-bit Operating Systems, e.g., XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit, have severe limitations when it comes to running applications. In most cases, although not all, the application must be 64-bit compatible. Most applications today are still written for 32-bit Operating Systems thus the selection of applications for 64-bit operating systems is quite limited.

I suspect that this will change over time but not anytime soon.
