What I want to do is take 4 windows applications and put them on the desktop. I would like to be able to define how much screen real estate each program takes up. Then I would like to be able to use Desktop X to lay over the top of the windows applications kind of like a skin or frame to make the objects look nice on display.

Is this possible? Suggestions?

Ideally we would have 2 programs at the top of the screen that take up half the width of the screen for each program and about half the height of the screen. Leaving the bottom half of the screen for a scroller with text.

This is to be displayed on plasma monitors to send information to our call center employees with the program running on the desktop of one single machine.
