I've been working with Icon Developer and Icon Packager quite a bit as of late. The problem I'm having, I keep running into the same issue. I've got 2GB of physical memory on my computer system. When I'm editing icon libraries, I only have the library I'm working with open.
I have one library with the standard sizes (128x128, 64x64, 32x32, 24x24, & 16x16), all of the icons in the library use 24bit + alpha and 24bit to keep the size down. The library saved (totalling 386 icons) is 67MB in size. Now, if I edit one icon, save it out to png and reimport and relocate, my memory usage goes through the roof capping around 2.5GB of used memory. The program I use to edit the icon images is Photoshop CS2 and I haven't had any problems with it. When I look at the task manager, Icon Developer's memory usage is 500+MB. Prior to starting Icon Developer I'm only using 212MB total... if I just launch Icon Developer and close it, I then have 283MB in use after a minimum five minutes of idle. Is there a memory leak there, or is it just me?
