My OD Wish List

Registered user of OD, using the 1.5 beta.

1.5 added a LOT of things I was really hoping for (non tabbed dock screen space reservation for one!!). But, there are other things I think would be really useful.

1. Context menu on the menu items of a dock shortcut when using the "Show folder in a menu" option

2. A digital clock docklet

3. Ability to have two rows of icons on a non-tabbed docks. I would use this for system tray icons. I typically setup one dock for system tray icons, and it would save screen real estate if I could halve the icon size and have two rows of icons in the dock. Obviously I would NOT expect to be able to zoom the icons in that case.

4. Weather docklet that just shows temp in numbers. The current one is too small to be usable at my normal, unzoomed icon size. However, if it were just the numbers I could then see it.

5. Ability to make non-tabbed dock take more size than there are icons. Essentially use it as a Windows task bar replacement, with it taking up the whole width of the screen all the time, instead of growing as more icons populate.

There are more wishes, but I'll add them later.

Don't get me wrong, though, I think this is a GREAT app!!!

Just going through your list real quick. Numbers 2 and 4 are available in the ObjectDock library. There are digital clocks and I know of at least one digital temp docklet.

Am I blind and can't see it... 1) Can we have a 'recent documents' item? 2) How do those of us who liked Media Player in the tray get an equivalent when the regular bar is hidden? Ian using ODP 1.5

1) Can we have a 'recent documents' item?

Yes. Drag your "My Recent Documents" folder (found in "C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*") to the dock. If you want a menu when you click the icon, open the Dock Entry Properties, and check the "Show folder in a menu" option.

Hmmm, technically you are dead right, but on the Windows Start Menu you get the last 15 items. This would translate nicely into a fly-out menu. But the real 'Recent' folder contains much older stuff and forces a fly-out back into a menu cos there are too many. So I see a need for a specific dock entry to be listed in the ODP menu. Anyone help?
