Hi, I'm not really sure who to report this to, so I'm posting it here, in the off-topic forum. I hope this reaches someone who can give me an explanaition.
I received a mail, that was promptly put into the spam folder.
It's, to say the least, a suspicous looking email that offers me a backupdisk of some sort. Now, I would normally just delete these without a second thought, but I saw they used the Stardock logo in their mail. They claim that Stardock is partnered with them, and supporting the product.
Did my name slip? Did they find out I was a Stardock customer? Are they legit?(I find that hard to believe)
Here's a bit of text...now you tell me if you think this came from Stardock:
remember, this offer is not available in stores and is for a limited-time only. After October 20th, the price will be $279!
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Phil Madis
Director of Business Development
Stardock Corporation
P.S. Purchase direct through this offer and you’ll save $40 off the regular price of $279. What’s more, I’m so sure you’ll love the BackupBox that I want you to try it without risk for one full month. If you’re not completely satisfied, simply return it within 30 days of your purchase and we’ll refund your $239.
Does anyone know more about this? Any help would be appreciated.
