Funny, isn't it...there's no mention here of politician, Don (keeping the bastards honest) Chipp's passing.
There's a couple of reasons for that, I guess.....No 1, Oz politics is still as corrupt as ever and he failed miserably: No 2, nobody in their right mind mourns the departure/demise of a pollie.
However, another great Australian passed earlier this week: Colin Thiele, the author of
Storm Boy (which eventually became a movie),
Sun on the Stubble and
Blue Fin. Thiele, also a school teacher, was a strong advocate for tolerance, cultural diversity and especially the higher education of our young people. Thiele devoted much of his time to visiting schools throughout Australia to encourage our youth to embrace literature and develop cultural interests.
Colin Thiele died shortly after being admitted to a Brisbane hospital on September 4 with severe breathing difficulties.
RIP Colin Thiele, you touched so many with your enormous heart, talents, great works and you'll be sadly missed.
