Hi folks.
This is my first time at the new site. I hadn't had SD Central open for quite a while as using many OD apps on this notebook usually slows it down to almost nothing.
But I wanted to download some new wallpaper so I at first opened the WinCustomize browser. While trying to look at the Wallpaper library the WC browser slowed the PC down to the point that I had to End Task to try and stop it. That didn't work, so I opened Process Explorer and saw that even with WC Browser "closed", the process was still running (oddly, it keeps a process named "System" open and very active), performing the activity "Updating Skin Engine". I forced it to closed with Process Explorer, though it really did not want to close.
Later I opened Stardock Central and because it has been so long it had updates for all OD apps on the PC. I let it download several and then made the mistake of switching to the Skins and Themes tab, where I tried to look at Wallpaper again. Well the same "System" process want crazy and Process Explorer told me that the WC Browser was at it again - SD Central's Skins and Themes tab apparently is really just a link to the WC Browser. So I had to force it shut again - nothing else can run while it is updating whatever the heck it is trying to update. Nothing. No other application can be opened or closed, I can't bring up the Start Menu, or any other command. This is completely locking up the PC.
What's going on with this? I have never seen the WC Browser or SD Central act like this in the past. And why does the process refuse to shut down? It's acting like the kind of thing we all try to avoid!
BTW, the PC is clean - full AV and AS scans earlier today.
Thanks.
