Hey Trudy! Guess what I just saw?

I went out in the backyard to get in one of my cats,  And while calling to him, I notice a large bird in one of my trees.  About the size of my smaller cats!

It was a hawk!  Beautiful bird too!  I wonder if he is going to stick around, or just dropped in for a snack on voles?

I wish I had my camera.  My wife took it to Germany with her.

Now that IS a co-incidence,  I just saw a couple of hawks this past week,   sitting on fence posts as we were cruising down the freeway.  They are really large birds too.

I had a scarlet tananger in my yard this summer and that's unusual here,  think he was just dropping in for a bite too out of the feeder. 

There's always those disposaable cameras you can get to,  they work really well.

I am a geek!  Digital all the way!  But I am looking forward to her pictures.  After all, I want to see that wild Bratwurst and Curry wurst!  Oh, be still my taste buds!

But you saw some too?  I know they eat other birds, but they impress me so!  This one was not a large hawk, just a mouser. The cats yawned at it.

Ya, two of em, huge! didn't know they eat other birds!?! whoa...

LOL, I can just see your cats yawning at at that mouser !! heeehee, just like that cat across the street that picks on the poor bluejays! LOL... that cat could that bluejay down in one swoop!

Sometimes I wish he would as those jays scream in the morning!

They scream at the cats too! That is why they are called Jays!  Jays are screamers.

I've seen my cat take shelter nervously looking up after seeing a large hawk circling overhead. She seemed quite scared and she's an older and very wise cat. She's been almost had more than once. Now she only ventures around the perimeter of the house.

Hmmm, I don't think a hawk could pick up a cat. A large eagle maybe.

We are a bit more urban in our area, so this hawk was not big enough to carry off a cat (just a kitten). But come to think of it, I did not see any of the cats around when the Hawk was in the tree, either.

You can see this in the cats we have. The older ones seem to be the smarter ones.

I'm not sure but this was a big bird!! I do know a friend of mine had an owl eat her cat. She found the white fur and bones a few days later and knew what had happened. It was a certain type of owl and I can't remember now what it was.

I dont think Buzzards eat cats. We have a ton of them down by the place on the river, and they never bothered the cats down there. But we also had 2 pair of Nesting Eagles. The cats knew enough to stay under cover when they were circling. But some Owls are probably big enough. Not around here, but they can get very large.

I saw the hawk again this afternoon. Definitely not a threat to any of the cats except Sally. But it is a beautiful bird! He can have all the moles and voles his stomach can hold!
