I've got a problem ejecting an external harddisk using Safely Remove Hardware icon. It pop up a dialog box. "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device, The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later." I already close the applications that are using the harddisk.
I also tried "chkdsk" the external HDD. It said that...
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.
Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first.
ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? [y/n]
I typed in "Y". Chkdsk scanned the drive and there were no problems. I tried to remove it again. Still won't work.
btw, I didn't enable Write Caching method. Is it safe to remove the drive without using safely remove hardware icon? because I looked at the drive indicator, It seems that there are no drive activity. [not reading/writing]
P.S. Sometimes I was be able to eject it by using safely remove hardware icon but sometimes it won't.
