Application Error Msg's

Various applications getting the following application error msg when WB is loaded. As soon as I unload WB these stop. The application may be different but as much as I was able to determine the instruction and referenced memory number is normally the same. However it is ocassionally been 0x01001a40.

I had the exact same errors, went through all the suggested things. Eventually we thought it was Spyware Doctor. But after working with the PCTools team for the last week turns out they say it isnt their program causing it.
The only way I can stop it is to remove/unload WindowBlinds as well. Not a good solution by any stretch of the imagination I know. Do you have Norton Internet Security 2006 by any chance ? As that is next on my list of suspects.

I have Spyware Doctor and Norton System Works 2006. I am wondering tho the common denominator of the two of us is Spyware Doctor. Did you by any chance uninstall that to see if was the culprit?

Yes, un-installing it results in having no more problems.
I have emailed them and believe they are still looking into it as I have sent them screenshots and some more system info yesterday. I suggest sending them your errors and system info and maybe they can find a solution faster. The people at Stardock have been really great too, and we have tried many things to find a fix, unfortunately so far without result.
Looks like for now, removing Spyware Doctor or unloading Windowblinds is the only solution.

So it's Sypware Doctor and WB. I sent them the all the system info, a exception log. So will see what we can come up with. I really don't want to have to give up one program for another if I can help it.

I will let you know if they come up with anything that may be knew for you.

Well for sure it's Spyware Dr. I also removed it and the errors stopped. PC Tools has all my info now also. I haven't heard from Stardock and I also mentioned to them that it seems to be the Spyware Dr program.

Carl Mckee,IowaGhost: Have you tried adding Spyware Doctor to the Per Application list of WindowBlinds? I'm downloading Spyware Doctor as we speak, and will try reproducing the problems you've both described. I will let you know my results.

Yes, I've tried adding Spyware Doctor to the Per Application list. Ticked 'Total exclusion' unfortunately it didnt resolve the problem. The PCTools team emailed me saying that they can run the two apps together without issues. Even disabling their software at startup it still results in errors for me. Removing their software seems the only thing to stop the errors so far.

I have same problem as well. Removing spyware doctor fixed it.

If you could send PCTools your system info and the error messages that would be great.
Are you running any Norton 2006 products as well ?

I have norton 2005 running, similar system to yourself but with the ati radeon xpress x200 256mb integrated graphics.

I got a batch file PC Tools had me run, and no it didn't help. I did try just for giggles uninstalling Norton System Works 2006 and leaving SpyWare Dr in and I still had errors. I have run out of ideas. PC Tools now states well "sorry we couldn't help" we will mention to our development team watch for updates.

If anyone wants that batch file to try and see if helps them let me know.

They sent me the same batch file over a week ago. It didnt work then, and they sent it again a couple of days ago. Seems they are stumped.
Thanks for trying the 'without Norton' approach.
I have installed Webroots Spy Sweeper, and it does not have any problems with WindowBlinds at all.

Hi all, I'm getting the same problem, I also have PC Tools + WBlinds 5. As soon as I unload Wblinds the problem goes away. This is most annoying...

PCTools have released version 4.0, you should download and try that version.
I have installed this and so far (fingers crossed) I have not had any problems.
I tried changing Windowblinds skins while it was running and it was fine.
I have restarted my system 3 times now, and it has shown no signs of the errors.

So try Spyware Doctor v4.0 and see if that solves the issues.

Thanks, I've just upgraded to version 4 (don't know why they didn't send me an email notification, it's a free update). I've applied a windowblinds skin, and so far, nothing...keeping my fingers crossed...

That is the fix. I got an e-mail from Stardock and went and upgraded to ver 4 no problems. I agree seemed funny that we had to get the information from Stardock and not PC Tools. A great example of a great company vs a company. I know for me I am going to go to Webroot as soon as my subscription with PC Tools is done. Stardock you all rock, thanks for hanging in and following up even if the problem was actually not yours.

i also have the same issue and do not use spyware doctor i think it must be the daul cpu's amd x2 any ides?
