Win2k support... RIP

Ain't happenin' :(

No formal declaration from SD, but first WB, then OB, now WFX. Fait accompli.

Too bad and disappointing. I know all the reasons but that doesn't help much. We're left with Win2k versions whose bugs will never be addressed.

Out of curiosity, what response do you get from tech support when you create Win2k support issues?

I can see how my headline could be misunderstood. I meant "support" for the OS in development, which has stopped for 2k - all new versions require XP.

I never use the support system - have found it to be more helpful to hang out here & in the NG's.

I agree with the lack of communication.

It's been stated before though, this forum is a community forum sposored by Stardock that their devs, support staff, and others hang out in. The only "official" support channel is email and stardock.helpserve.com.

Tech support has really improved over the last year, go to helpserve and create a case . .. see what happens. Can't hurt, right?

I can see your frustration, however as Microsoft nears the end of support for Win2K you will start to see less and less support for products running on it, from more vendors as well.
Looks like MS at least extended the Extended support life to 2010, but Mainstream support is now ended.

I don't doubt you, Zubaz, but the only problems I have relate to long-known issues with OB & WFX on 2k. Unless there will be program fixes for the 2k versions, I don't need to burden tech support, improved or otherwise.

I have 2 Win2k rigs and 2 XP rigs, and have no plans to abandon the 2k rigs in the foreseeable future, which is why SD's decision to abandon 2k development is disappointing. Mind you, it's no stick in the eye, but us 2k users have sort of been left hanging with promises of continued development (explicitly for OB), only to have it vaporize without comment.

I've been very fortunate with the XP-only versions & have had no problems that I felt required formal support. I've found folks like you to be so helpful that the need hasn't arisen.
