I have encountered this problem almost exactly as you tell it.

I've only had one CursorXP theme cause this so far, "Tronnix" by J.J. Ying. If I try to use it via the CursorXP utility in Mouse Properties, CursorXP crashes. But if I double-click on the file I have stored in a folder on my HDD, it works fine.

Has anyone tried clearing the cache (delete the CursorXP folder in the "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder)?

Note - the mini tutorial shows the standard free "CursorXP" folder, but there should be one created by the plus version.

Note #2 - there is no folder named "cache", just a folder bearing the program's name in the Stardock folder. Deleting the folder forces the program to load with the default settings by removing any user preferences stored in the cache. A new cache is written upon reload.   

I am not sure if this will help, but it will remove a possible corrupt ".ini" file in the cache.

What path do you have CursorXP installed to?

Is Corky saying to delete the entire folder ? If I delete the folder - then all the Themes go with it.

Did you install CxP via SDC?

But Im still confused why I have no Stardock programs in the area corky is talking about. All my Stardock programs are in C:Program Files|Stardock\Object desktop

If you path is C:\Program Files\CursorXP then maybe a cache is create elsewhere (TZ?)

Yes - but where ? Thats what Im trying to figure out- i have no hidden folders

Try = (if you want) = save all your cursors, trails, sounds, etc somewhere and uninstall, reboot, download and install via SDC All of mine are not in the ObjectDesktop folder - I got a bunch of Folders in "Stardock" - hmmm.... CursorXP isn't part of Object Desktop...

I was thinking I could reinstall - and cursorXp is separate like you said.
Im still confused why I dont even have a stardock folder in local settings/application data .

I suppose it was always like that and I guess there's no answer for it.

Ok. I uninstalled CursorXP Pro and cleaned up the leftovers with Total Uninstall 3. I rebooted and then cleaned the registry with 5 different reg cleaners, including jv 16.
I went into my file manager and cleaned up any files that may have been used with Cursor XP, including the folder you mentioned above.

I rebooted, installed Cursor XP Pro 1.3, not using the SDC, and rebooted again.

Opened Cursor XP and clicked on a theme that I knew was crashing it and bigger than sh!!!t, it crashed again. At this point, I don't think it's my problem since others are experiencing the same thing. What's it going to take to get someone from Stardock to address this issue? Do I need to contact them by email or do they monitor this forum?

I also have a problem that occurrs sometimes when I exit Cursor XP, the GUI crashes and the desktop reloads.

This proggie needs some work.
