Icons Shift Right

SysTray Tab

I have Objectdock Plus and I have a System Tray Tab on my screen. Sometimes when I mouse over the icons, they shift to the right instead of growing slightly. So when I mouse over to click on it, it moves to the right and is no longer under my mouse arrow.

How can I get this fixed so it no longer moves?

Well, I guess what should we expect for $20. It is a great app, but support is non-responsive. I had a problem with a dock on the bottom of the screen, it would frequently jump around when starting and closing applications. I got around it by changing the position - turn off the automatic positioning, and specify with the slider. It works great - perhaps this is the same issue?

Hi Cynthia Blue & Zubaz:

I've tried reproducing that kind of problem before in tabbed docks but was completly unable to get it to happen or figure out what in the code would make something like that happen. Any tips as far as reproducability or more details/thoughts on what it looks like when this happens? e.g. does it seem like a new item has been added so everything is shifted over and the last one goes down a line? or does everything just shift over right completly, etc? does resizing it bring it back to normal, etc that kinda thing. Thanks!

Jeff,
I have this problem constantly and it is easy to reproduce. Create a System Tray (I have mine NOT showing as a drawer, "Always on top" is checked, and the "User Zoom effect" is checked). Start some app that can be exited via the system tray icon and make sure it starts before other apps that have System Trays (i.e. it will be on the left of other icons). Exit this app from its system tray icon so other icons shift left to fill in the gap. Now, mouse over any of the shifted icons. You'll notice this bug. It appears to me to be a simple array off by 1. When mousing over, the effect is created in the original spot (one array) but the icon is correctly positioned when the mouse is not over (some other array).

**User's Note: The way to fix it, temporarily, is drag the right-most icon like you're going to change its position, but put it right back to its original spot. This does a re-order on the icons and corrects the problem.

(Programmer's note...As a temporary fix if you can't find the array problem, if an icon is removed/app is closed, you could call the re-order function right afterwards)

Thanks for the help guys - Problem is fixed Was able to reproduce with the help. Sorry for the delay I was away from the project for a little while... problem is fixed for the next release thanks to your help

Except for the "next build" business, clicking and dragging the void shifts the drugged icon. Ben One tested method, Dock approved.
If anyone's dock items still do this, give my tip a shot. I even did this on a drugged AIM icon after exiting ICQ Lite 5.0 (rightclick icon>shut down) and the icon never did that again.

This trick works on tabbed docks and normal docks set to animation off.
