We need more grammar Nazis here

If you want to type idiotic stuff like "worth wild", "your awesome" or "don't be a looser," then that's fine with me. I can't stop you from being on life support.

BUT FOR FRAK'S SAKE... get the spelling right for basic game mechanics. If you're writing a 500 word post about MORALE and you write "moral" 27000 times while complaining about how you can't beat the game then consider this:

Maybe it's because your attention to detail is deficient?

For the people hoping to work for Stardock: Inability to spell does not reflect intelligence but IT DOES reflect your ability to get a line of code written properly the first time. If I was running the hiring process, I wouldn't waste time with people that can't take two seconds to catch a spelling error.

You all are tearing this real civilization apart. Die already.

NOBODY has INCLUDED "NON ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE" in the discussion. So STOP making that an issue.

For those of you that ARE grammer nazis I'm sure that you will empathize with the author's postion strongly.

For those of you that ARE NOT grammer nazis you will laugh your ass off at her many funny stories, learn a good deal about the history of the english language and the importance of punction and grammer.

Me personally, I suck at english. Yes I understand that english is my first language and that I'm just pathetic. Fortunatly, I have come to terms with that and I'm a happier person for it. I still found the book very funny, and enlightening and my english is much better for having read it (yes I understand that's not saying much

).

You folks have it good here. I'm coming over from WoW where rogue is a color.

Forums and game chat there is a burning cesspool, and poor grammar and obnoxiousness seem to be prized there.

I feel that it's a shame that people don't wirte better even when they probably have the skill and capacity to do so. However posters here have been much more articulate. Perhaps you should pick your battles.

Come on - language evolves ... I wouldn't have a clue what Shakespeare was talking about if he spoke his old-fashioned version of English to me today.

Sadly you have just wished death on over half the population of the world.

Thankfully not everyone in the world is super intelligent. Some people spell badly, some are crap at football, some just suck all round. It makes the world interesting. To expect everyone in the world to be able to spell is dumb, and to wish people who cannot spell or are lazy (like me) not to post is very Hitleresque

To the original poster you suck ass, and your post has its own errors in it. If i was as anal as you i could point out the Grammatical mistakes but thankfully for you i cannot be arsed.

Get the spelling for game mechanics right and nobody goes to the gas chamber.

Morale and moral are not pronounced the same. The phonetic excuse doesn't work.

Everything else after the original post is just banter.

As for errors in my original post... yes, there are a couple. However, there are no spelling errors. The fact that you "aren't anal enough" to point out those errors has nothing to do with your desire. It has to do with your lack of ability.

As for the world being more interesting with different ways of writing... what are you smoking? The world is interesting when everyone can communicate under a standard protocol. In this case, English and acceptable variants (Australian, North American.)

You know, we're forgetting the real victims of poor grammar, The parents. I'm sure if kids knew how much money K-12 cost their parents, they would be more inclined to, not proofread their posts 110%, but atleast make a solid attempt at learning their own language, the first time. Do it for the parents guys *sniff* they love you.

That's a shame. I think his plays are wonderful, whether read or heard.

As far as the topic at hand goes... a lot of people do take every error in spelling (and sometimes grammar) too seriously. Typographical errors happen, and if a lengthy treatise on "morale" omits the last letter in the word a couple of times, that's no big deal.

I'll be honest, though, and admit that if that same treatise NEVER spells the word correctly even once, I'm not going to waste my time with it. If the author can't be bothered to learn what his topic is, I don't trust him enough to have cogent thoughts on the material at all.
