Runtime error?

In Display Properties, when I go to the Appearance tab, I get the following error pop-up:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: F:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe


abnormal program termination

I really want to play with this program; I am getting a new computer soon, and I have seen a lot of great looking skins/themes/what-have-you, but this is not encouraging. I am running XP Home sp2, fully updated as of yesterday (16 March, 2006). Also, when I attempt to start Windowblind from the Start Menu shortcut or the .exe file, I am told I need to reboot. Any help or advice will be appreciated.

The only current XP updates I do not have are for Outlook or Windows Media Player. My graphics card's drivers are current as well. I really cannot understand why it is doing this. WB will not start, but yet it must be responsible for the error. I know I can uninstall it and the error will go away, but that isn't the point.

Also, I can read English and Spaniguese well enough, you don't have to yell.

I think you have some sort of virus/male ware ... !!

have you scanned your pc

Of course I have. The problem is isolated to WB. As I said, the error is not concerning me; I know a reliable way to get rid of it- uninstalling WB. However, I do not wish to do that; I want to actually use the program.

If this is the original 5.0 release then some computers have problems with their database support which causes this.

We are releasing a 5.01 release this week to registered customers and updating the trial version which no longer uses the OS database support.

Yes, this was an install of windowblinds5_public. I am glad to hear an updated install file will be released for the trial version. I'll uninstall WB for now, until that's released. One last question though: since I've not gotten the program to run, will it still have counted these past few days towards my 60-day expiration date, or does it only count for when you actually have Windowblinds running?

esque el uninstall de windowsblind 5 a veces segun en que ordenador da errores porque cuando se instala wb5 el archivo log.txt no lo deja a buen recuado es decir no lo deja en un lugar correcto para despues desinstalarlo bien ,,fallo? la entrada al registro del -- log.txt-- ajja yo seguro que ganaria millones trabajndo para stardock porque creo que me conozco wb5 mejor que el autor ,,porque yo e instalado todos los wb que existen y el wb5 lo e instalado casi 100 veces jajajajajja de todas formas , desarrollo run time fx es alimento bueno para wb5...


esque uninstall of windowsblind 5 sometimes segun in which computer gives errors because when wb5 settles the file log.txt does not leave it good recuado is to say does not let it in a correct place for despues desinstalar it well,failure? the entrance to the registry of -- log.txt -- ajja who surely ganaria I million trabajndo for stardock because I believe that I know wb5 better than the author,because I and installed all wb that exists and wb5 the installed e almost 100 times jajajajajja in any case, development run Time fx is good food for wb5...

BIDDIGITZMAN: I am sorry to tell you that you do not know WindowBlinds better than I do!

Regarding the trial, the timeout is not based on the days WB is run, but the length of time WB has been installed on the computer.

terigw: Registered users can download it by using the facility on the Stardock website to get your serial numbers sent to you. 

Anyone who wants to try the trial version can download it from the WindowBlinds website.
